Taking this Web design course has let me learn about so many different things about web design I never knew about. When working on assignments, I used both formal and Self-directed learning. I'm glad I took this course because not only did I learn a lot about web design but I also learned a lot about myself and learn new skills that I'll apply to my everyday-life.

Web design, there are some many components and many skills that go into web design, but which one is most important? Well I believe that typography is the most important skill for web design because it helps us read what's on our design. You can have nice colour and composition but without correct typography words can seems hard to read and it can make people click off your website, correct typography can make things easier to read and easier to understand information. Not only is it nice to correct your typography but, typography has all the aspects of web design it has, colour, hierarchy, grid, and composition. Also make sure to use nice fonts that complement your design and that are easy to read and understand the information you're trying to put out.
Simply put, a website designer improves how a site looks. To produce visual components, they employ design software. Website designers typically have UI, or user interface, expertise, which enables them to strategically design a site that is user-friendly and simple to navigate. A web designer should become familiar with creating an online business because they should know how to connect to an audience if they ever decide to build an online business they need to learn how to connect first.
Social Media and Websites are somewhat similar but are very different as well. That's what todays post is about, Social Media vs. Websites. Lets talk about websites first, what are they good for? Well websites can help businesses get noticed by the public, they can also help with sales of a business. If a small business is struggling, building a website might help improve their business. But there are some cons of just having a website. Businesses with just a website might having a hard time connecting with their customers/audience, there is little to no engagement if people just have a website, and businesses might have a hard time getting discovered by the public but there is no way to market their business without people clicking their website. Now lets talk about social media, what is it good for? Social media can fix websites' cons. Social media can help brands/businesses promote and market themselves, people might even see their social media post before clicking on a website. Social media is also a great way for businesses/brands to reach audiences and a great way to get feedback from the public, but their are some downsides. Keeping up with social media is some tough work, you have to be consistent with your social media posts for your audiences/customers, if you don't its more likely for people to leave. Also you can't sell anything on social media, customers can't by any products on them. But I think businesses/brands should have the best of both worlds, they can have a website to sell products and have social media to have a way to reach customers quick and easy.
Many people use there phones for pretty much everything, but many people also use their desktop and there is a lot of differences between the two. For example, the screen size. A website or app needs to condense to the size of the mobile device the user is using at the present moment, when a desktop has a big screen and can show the website or app in a more wide, less cramped-looking way than a mobile device. Another difference is the way we navigate our way through apps and websites, when using our mobile devices we use our fingers to scroll, click, press, and move around the website or app. A desktop uses a mouse or a touchpad to navigate. In the end it really is up to the user in which device they prefer, some will prefer a desktop or some will prefer a mobile device.
What is Inclusive Web Design? Well designers must guarantee can visit their website without any problems, in other words it's simple to use and unsure that the user's task is completed. There are many ways you can make your website more accessible for your customers, but here is three of them that I think are important.
2. Optimize Colour Contrast The degree to which the colours of two design elements stand out from one another is known as colour contrast. There is a minimal ratio to shoot for, and the unit of measurement is a ratio. Assuming that various design elements meet the WCAG's minimum colour contrast ratio, we not only enable readability for visually-impaired users, but we also improve it for those who aren't. This is just one of the many ways we design inclusively with little effort. Ways we can fix this problem is by using colour contrast analyzers, these can help a web designer correct the colour contrast and to see if it's the proper contrast for different types of users. 3. Help Users Fix Mistakes Mistakes frequently create a cloud of confusion, especially when the user is unsure of what they did or how to correct it. Mistakes are unavoidable, which is why assisting users in overcoming their errors is critical to inclusivity. Understandably, filling out forms is the most frequent situation in which a user could miss, and this frequently happens due to a range of disabilities, such as trouble understanding due to a cognitive disability, improper data input due to a motor disability, and so forth. Things we can do to fix this is always use form labels to describe input fields, enable autofill and autocomplete to reduce typing requirements, and display form errors very clearly. Although this has a delicious name to it, I will not be talking about the food but the tool that web designers use, The Hamburger Menu. The Hamburger Menu is type of tool that helps you navigate your way around apps, websites, and programs. It's made up of three horizontal lines that resemble what a hamburger looks like, its , main purpose is for space-saving. I think it's a great way to save space for the more important matters, and if I were a web designer I would put this tool on my website. I think most web designers use this tool to there websites doesn't look too crowded, it's also a great way to keep your website clean and organized.
Shrove Tuesday or as many know it as Pancake Tuesday. This day is a traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday, and leading to the 40 days of Lent. The font in the picture has very simple and modern feel to it, which I think is perfect for Shrove Tuesday because it's a pretty well-known holiday. The colours give off a warm and relaxing feel, which makes sense for Shrove Tuesday because nothing too big is happening and the photo of pancakes are there to show what is eaten on the holiday, Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before Lent and it's associated with clearing your cupboards of goods such as sugar, fats, and eggs . So pancakes were eaten on this day to use up those things before the 40-day fasting period. So celebrate Shrove Tuesday by making some pancakes! Branding is important because it not only creates a memorable impression on consumers, but it also informs your customers and clients about what to expect from your business. It is a method of separating yourself from your competitors and clarifying what you offer that makes you the better choice. A product is what you sell, a brand is the perceived image of that product and branding is the strategy used to create the image you want to build. As a web designer, I think it's important to figure out all the brand details first. You want your customers to be able to tell what kind of brand you present yourself as, also what kind of products you offer.
